Handheld PCs combine console faults (drift, buttons) with laptop faults (cooling, battery, storage). Below are the most common symptoms and their typical causes. We don't guess — we confirm the cause with a free diagnosis before quoting a price.
Not charging / USB-C port
Typical causes: charges only at an angle, loose plug, no reaction to the charger — a worn or broken USB-C port or a damaged charging circuit.

Battery — drains fast or swells
Typical causes: an hour of play instead of three, sudden shutdowns, a bulging case — a worn or swollen battery.

In handhelds the analog sticks are built into the device — you can't just swap “the controller”, because the controller is the whole device. Worn potentiometers cause drift: the character walks on its own, the camera wanders. Instead of coming back to the same fault in six months, for many models — including the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and Legion Go — we fit magnetic Hall Effect sensors that measure movement without physical contact. Every swap ends with a calibration.
Why we recommend magnetic sticks
A potentiometer wears down with every stick movement — drift is a matter of time, especially with intensive gaming. Magnetic sensors have no physical contact, so they don't wear out. You can see the difference in the warranty too:

My Steam Deck / ROG Ally is drifting — can you fix it for good?
Yes, drift is our most common handheld repair. We can replace the stick with a new potentiometer or — what we recommend — upgrade to magnetic Hall Effect, after which drift doesn't come back. Hall modules are available for many models, including the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and Legion Go. Every swap ends with a calibration.
Do you repair the Steam Deck OLED and ROG Xbox Ally?
Yes. We service all Steam Deck versions (LCD and OLED), the whole ROG Ally family — including the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X — plus the Legion Go, MSI Claw and less common handhelds (Ayaneo, GPD Win, AYN Odin).
The handheld won't charge, or only charges at an angle?
That's usually a worn USB-C port — heavy docking and playing while charging take their toll. We replace the port and check the charging circuit and battery if the device still won't charge.
The battery lasts an hour instead of three — can you replace it?
Yes, we replace handheld batteries with new, full-capacity ones. If the battery has swollen (a bulging case) — don't wait, a swollen cell risks damaging the screen and mainboard.
The handheld overheats and loses performance in game?
A typical sign of dusty cooling and worn thermal interface material on the APU. We clean the cooling system, replace the thermal interface material and service the fan — temperatures and performance return to normal.
Can you replace or upgrade the SSD?
Yes. We replace failed drives and do SSD upgrades to a larger capacity (handhelds use short M.2 2230 drives), along with migrating or reinstalling the system — SteamOS or Windows.
Cracked screen after a drop — can it be replaced?
Yes, we replace LCD and OLED displays in handhelds. During the diagnosis we also check whether the drop damaged the mainboard or ribbon cables — you get a full quote before any repair.
The system won't boot after an update or modifications?
We help with software too: SteamOS or Windows reinstallation, driver configuration, recovery after failed updates and modifications. Your games can usually be restored from your account — reinstalling the system doesn't remove them from your library.
How much does a handheld repair cost?

How do I send my handheld from another city, and what's the warranty?
