Protect mode is a safety feature — the amplifier has detected a problem and cut its outputs to protect your speakers. The most common causes are a damaged output stage, DC voltage on the output or a power supply fault. Don't ignore it: we measure, find the cause and repair it before your speakers suffer.
The usual culprits are dirty potentiometers and switches (typical in older gear), cold solder joints or a fault in one channel's signal path. Sometimes it's the output stage. We locate the cause with measurements — often a clean-up and regeneration is enough, with no expensive parts.
